California's LCFS, established as part of the state's comprehensive efforts to combat climate change, has proven its efficacy in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting the adoption of cleaner transportation fuels. In 2022 alone, the LCFS reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 26 million metric tons – the equivalent of taking 5.8 million gas-powered cars off the road.

The LCFS encourages the use of low carbon and renewable fuels, driving innovation and investment in cleaner energy sources while reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Through a market-based approach, the standard incentivizes the production and consumption of fuels with lower carbon intensity, contributing to California's ambitious emission reduction goals.

"California's Low Carbon Fuel Standard is a testament to our state's commitment to climate leadership and environmental stewardship, allowing California to displace 25 billion gallons of petroleum with renewable fuels since the program’s inception,” said Nicole Rice, President of the California Renewable Transportation Alliance. “It’s clear the low carbon fuels standard is working, and we are proud to join the voices urging CARB to continue this highly successful program.”

The addition of more clean fuels producers and advocates to the campaign reflects the broad consensus on the effectiveness of the LCFS in driving emissions reductions and promoting clean energy innovation.
